Graphic designer. Retired graffiti writer.
Before I was a designer, I was a graffiti writer. The irony is my dad was cop, but that’s a story for another day.
For the longest time I couldn’t tell you why I risked my freedom and life to paint freeway overpasses, billboards, and city streets to leave a mark that would eventually be painted over or fade away. Looking back, painting graffiti was never about the final product, but always for the love of the process.
Despite my retirement from painting the streets (illegally), the curiosity and knack for coloring outside of the lines that I learned from graffiti is present in all my design work and life in general.
