Whenever I move to a new city, I try to work from a cafe for a portion of my day. I make it a priority to try a new spot to keep the environment fresh. I came across Mosquito Cafe, a cafe and bar in the basement of the Somos Hotel, and was drawn in by the cozy interior and plant lined walls. I was the only one in the cafe besides a group of gentlemen wearing business attire sitting at a high top table. One of the men was wearing a hat with the logo of one of my favorite restaurants in Los Angeles, Great White. After observing them for a minute as I worked, it became clear they were the owners of the establishment. I noticed a blank wall, took a photo of it, mocked up the designs, commented on the man’s hat, showed him the designs and the rest is history.
